Hello all,
I embeded a simple flash swf file in a worksheet.
It works great.
It's linked from the C drive but the problem is
if i want to play it on another computer it won't work because
it's linked to the drive on the other pc.
How would i go about fixing this?
Any help is appreciated.
I'm guessing it's not actually linked to the C drive on the original machine, just expecting it on the C drive on the current machine.
Two options spring to mind: you could copy the swf file to the second machine or put it on a shared network drive that both machines have access to and link to it there.
Regards
Hello thanks for the reply,
Yes it's just expecting it on that drive,it can be moved to any pc
or i even thought of copying the swf into excel folder so it will run.
But the i recieved this fun little file by email (Attached)
After examining the excel file and shockwave file i can't see how it is linked
but it runs correctly.
I thought maybe it connects to a website,so i turned off my connection but it still runs.
This is the reason i ask this question instead of just copy files on to another pc.
I can't figure out how it's linked.
I have uploaded the file,if you have time see will it run for you. Thanks
Activate the VBA menu bar and activate Design mode.
You can then right click on the Flash Movie and see its properties. Seems it's an embedded movie.
Neat
Yes but where is the link to a swf file.
Generally when i embed swf files in excel i downloaded.
I insert a shockwave object from more controls
and the in properties - movie i write in the path to the file.
then it works.
If i leave the path out it fails.
This file has no path so how does it work?
Hi dealer,
I am by no means an expert on this topic, but I have been fiddling around and I think I found the culprit. After you link the swf then click on properties as TMShucks suggested and change the default for EmbededMovie from False to True. I tried this and it worked. If I deleted the original swf file then it still worked inside of Excel. When I left the option as False and then deleted the file I got the message.
Hope this helps.

Would it be possible to upload an example of swf file that does not work using this method?

Hello abousetta,
Try this one and see will it work.
Hi dealer,
I can see and play the pacman game embeded in the excel sheet. Are others having trouble not seeing it?
