Conditional Formatting - highlight a row based on one cell value

    Hi All,

thanks in advance for help with the following:

I have a spreadsheet with 10 columns of data. I currently have a conditional formatting rule where if value in Column A is HIGH PRIORITY, column A is highlighted in Red. However, I'd like to expand the rule so that if Column A = HIGH PRIORITY, the row (columns A - J) is Highlighted in Red.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Tom

Hi Tom, welcome to the forum.

So if I understand you correctly, you want to highlight A1:J1 if A1 is "HIGH PRIORITY". And you want to highlight A3:J3 if A3 is "HIGH PRIORITY", etc.?

If so, select your full range, e.g. A1:J100, then set the conditional formatting rule to:

    =$A1="HIGH PRIORITY"

The row number will properly adjust for the condition of each row, but the column will stay the same (A).

Expand your formatting rule so that the "Applies To" range are all the columns you want included, and use $A instead of A in your formula.

Highlight all the cells that you need to refer to the 'high priority' entry (e.g. A1), and in the conditional formatting enter
    copy to clipboard

    , then set the formatting.

If you're doing this for multiple rows, try
    copy to clipboard
