The value in AH1 is, as I said, completely irrelevant. AH1 is simply the argument to the COLUMN function, which returns 34 as AH is the 34th column. When you copy it across, it becomes COLUMN(AI1) which returns 35 and so on.
Ok so it was 2003 that was causing the issues.
How? There's nothing in that formula that is version specific that I can see.
