We have Excel on a network all seems okay, and it wont let other people in for editing when another user is in until the user goes to save the file, this will then seem to open up the file so anyone can access, the file saving will then load until the end and produce an error message for the person saving it. However the second user will not get any problems, and is allowed to edit and save as they please.
Has anyone had similar problems and does anybody know a solution??
Hi Michael.BCW and welcome to the forum,
I've searched on "Excel MultiUser Editing" and found.
http://www.excelforum.com/excel-gene...g-options.html and
http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/ex...005202595.aspx and
http://www.ehow.com/how_5913825_cont...readsheet.html
I hope one of the above solves your problem.
One test is worth a thousand opinions.

Marvin thanks for the help and the welcome!
However, I think you mis-understood. I only want one user to edit the sheet at a time, which most of the time works fine however when the initial user Saves the file (as it is located remotely, this isn't as instant as normal) it will then seem to open up and allow other users to access it and edit it, and create an error message for the initial user.
It seems to be some sort of error with the way Excel save (maybe just over a network?). But maybe someone knows a solution?
Thanks.
