cell sum according to criteria

This is probably simple but im not good at all with complex formulas

example:

Cell A1 sums if (seperate tabs) Cells A1:A4 has a particular name entered and also C1:C4 Has a W in the corresponding cells with that name?

Its for a Win Loss spread sheet...I have players names entered in no particluar order and a "W" or "L" in same column a few cells away.

The total W's with sum in a seperate tab according to names

=SUMPRODUCT(--('Week 1 '!$C$9:$C$18="name"),--('Week 1 '!$H$9:$H$18="W"))

might just got this....if any one sees any issues..let me know...im going to test it out for a 17 week period...

Works good so far for only one sheet at a time..i need it to look at 17...back to square one i guess...any ideas..

Thank you Alf..and PEPE, Sorry for the "cross posts" I didnt know everyone scouted all the sites...also, i didnt get any replys on one, then i thought i was not making sense or no one knew how to help me...so i played around and found some results, then another road block...so I posted on different link...thinking new people, new ideas...I had NO idea that I could be messing up someones help cross posts...i really didnt know everyone looked at the same forums. so if is anyone reading this, no need to tell me I cross posted anymore since i was told 2 times and everyone see im appolgizing

Go to the first post
Click edit
Click Go Advanced
Just below the word Title you will see a dropdown with the word No prefix.
Change to Solved
Click Save

I solved this by modifying how i was looking for the data..i just made the spread sheet alot more simplfied and did a sumif function.
I plan on taking the data and finalizing the 2nd spread sheet and I will attempt to re-do the 1st one I planned. For now, I am content witht the results that all the members helped me with. Thanks so much
