I think... It might be "IF" and "INDEX" ...that's part of my problem.
I have a costing bid sheet that I have set up to find the cheapest option and list the vendor (the first chart). I am trying to use that list to generate a purchase order automatically, and I can't figure out how to select a row of data based on the response to the "vendor" cell. I would like it to work by searching the first chart for the vendor name on that is listed on the PO(the last chart), add the data associated for that row, and then repeat for every instance of that vendor name.
It's hard to explain - there is a copy attached.
Once I figure that out, I would also like to get the Order Amount from the second chart to auto-pop too....but I'll work on that when I get to it.Attachment 138331
(this is for school - the data is made up. The focus of the assignment is costing and understanding when to reorder supplies. We are supposed to hand-jam it, I'd rather use an easy assignment to learn how to use my tools better)
Sorry but your attachment does not work. Have been problems with attachment in this forum so could you please try to upload a file.

The thread I started ran twice for some reason. The other works and has a little more information. It can be found here: http://www.excelforum.com/excel-general/811512-if-and-lookup-question.html
I will delete this soon.
I like to sum some data of a particular employee within many with previous date data. How can I do this.
Rashidul, please start a new thread with your question, thanks![]()
