    Table Column Formatting Issue

Problem: Unable to insert table columns while preserving existing formatting

    Hi,

Whenever I insert a new column into a table, the formatting in all adjacent columns is altered dramatically. I can see that all data in these adjacent columns is being shifted one column to the right of the original positions. When this happens, not only is the column width in all of the other column changed to a width I don't want, but since I used 'Auto-fit Row Height', the row height of every single cell is also thrown off as well! As you can imagine, this wastes a lot of time reformatting all the other columns back to what I originally intended.
I'm fairly new to Excel (and this forum), I'm guessing that there is something I'm "doing wrong" that will be obvious to a seasoned Excel user. Your guidance will be greatly appreciated!

    Hi Dave,

    Welcome to the forum.

The formatting in adjacent columns should not altered if you insert another column in between them. Upload the sample file to research more. Thanks.

    Thanks for your response.

I didn't think that was supposed to be happening! But unfortunately, it is. I don't think it would help to upload a sample, because it's either "me - doing something wrong" (attempting to do something that shouldn't be done); or it's a glitch in the program installation.
This is driving me crazy! If you (or anyone) can think of anything, please let me know.
    Again, thanks for you efforts.
