Hi,
I am running Excel 2007. I have 2 excel windows open on the same computer. Note that these are not two workbooks open in the same excel window, they are two separate excel windows open each with a different workbook. The reason I have two excel windows open is so that i can drag the excel windows separately on my screen. I would like to link cells from one excel window to another. I tried to copy the source cell and paste special in the destination worksheet and it paste's the source cell as an object...(almost like a picture). The problem is that I cant write formulas using this object in my destination sheet. I can only see the values but I cant work with it. I want it to paste the source cell contents (which change in real-time) in the destination worksheet such that I can write formulas and work with the values in the linked cell.
hopefully this was clear..if not please ask
thanks
Hi
In target sheet in target cell type "=" then go to source sheet click the source celland press enter
Cells will be linked and you can see the formula in formula bar

Hi Mahju,
this only works if the two sheets are open in the same excel window. I have two separate windows of excel open...it doesn't work with that setup.
Hi
Use this formate
[worksheetname.xls]sheetname!cell reference

this would require me to manually double click on the cell and select the source file and then it updates the values. My source cell is updating in real-time, so I would like excel to automatically update the destination cell in real time.
thanks
have you tried the CAMERA in Excel? Takes a picture of an area and keeps it updated.
no... i don't know what this is ...please explain
