Easiest way to pseudo-combine two spreadsheets?

I'm running a contest that had two parts -- I tallied the results from each part in their own spreadsheet, but now I need to combine them. Basic format is that column A has the name of the entrant, column B has their score. However, not everyone entered both parts of the contest, so I need to add the results together for anyone who entered both, but keep only the one result if they only entered one. Any suggestions on the best way to do this?

For an example, if these were my two sheets:
    Bob, 5
    Fred, 4
    Alice, 3
    Katie, 2
    Cathy, 1

    Bob, 5
    Alice, 4
    Chris, 3
    Katie, 2
    John, 1

    I would want the result:
    Bob, 10
    Alice, 7
    Fred, 4
    Katie, 4
    Chris, 3
    Cathy, 1
    John, 1

In the sheet where you want the results, put the names in column A and use this formula in Column B -
     =IFERROR(VLOOKUP(A1,Sheet1!A:B,2,0),0)+IFERROR(VLOOKUP(A1,Sheet2!A:B,2,0),0)
    Cheers,
