    Highlighting a Row with the current Date

    I have a worksheet with one colum with all the dates of the year in 6-mar-12 format. I want to highlight the whole row containing the current date. I have tried =$A1=today() using Conditional formatting, but I do not get it to work.
    Is A1 where I should have "=TODAY()"?

    Thanks,

    Hi and welcome to the forum.

    Highlight all the range and then put your formula.

    =$A1=today()

    Hi Fotis,
    I've tried that, but it will only highlight my row 1. Not sure what I am doing wrong.

    Richard

    Hi First you can select the range from where you need the conditional formatting. Refer the attached file & the Screen shot sheet. I think this may help you.

    Re: Highlighting a Row with the current Date

    Hi guys,

    Thanks for helping me out on this!
    I did mark the whole document. It works when I make a new worksheet, but for some reason I am not able to use it in my excisting document, it will only mark the first row.
    If I copy a section with dates from my old document to the new worksheet, it will work, but not if I try to copy the whole column...strange. Something in my old document is blocking this function.

    Re: Highlighting a Row with the current Date

    Hi Fotis,
    Sorry for not explaning myself.
    In A5 (and A1) I have =TODAY()
    I enter =$A5=today() as conditional formatting and select yellow color.
    Then only row 1 will be colored yellow, same result when I used A1 as a date reference.
    It only works when I try this in a new document.
    All column C is date formatted, in Swedish

    Regards,
    Richard

    Richard, in conditional formatting, Highlight ALL rows and then formula is.

    =$A1=TODAY()

    If answer is again NO, i think that best way is to upload a sample of your real workbook.

    This is your post #9.

    In your attachement, in column A, there is not Formula(=today()), at all.

    I made two cells with this function and your Conditional Formatting formula, works perfectly...

    If i am not missing something.....it's ok

    Another option is to do the conditional formatting by column C, not A.

    Re: Highlighting a Row with the current Date

    Hmm, this is funny. It does work, and I can enter all the data in the attachment you sent me, no problem. BUT if I try the same in the document I posted it does not work. Wierd, I am doing something stupid here, have to figure out what the difference is.

    Last day at work now, will be on vaccation for one week but I will bring my laptop and keep on trying. Will get back to you with the outcome.
    Thanks again for your support! I've learnt a lot.

    Cheers,
    Richard
