Quattro Pro X5 (.qpw) to Excel 2010 (.xlsx) conversion

    Hi,

I am trying to convert .qpw files to .xlsx. I have both Quattro Pro X5 and Excel 2010 installed. However, I can't seem to find a way to easily convert a .qpw file to .xlsx. I have searched the web for converters, but there only seems to be a converter for Excel 2000. I have also tried publishing the .qpw file to XML in Quattro Pro X5 and then opening through Excel 2010, but I either get an invalid file, or it opens, but the data is displayed as text (no formulas and formatting). Can anyone please advise on how to convert a .qpw file to .xlsx while keeping the correct formulas and formatting (is this even possible, since the formula syntax in QP and Excel is different?)

Thank you very much in advance!

wow i remember qpro!! have you tried...in qpro...to save as an xls file, then open that in 2010? I remember that qpro was more capable of saving as xls, than xls was of saving in qpw format.

so essentially, you will be "downgrading" to xls, from qpro, then (if needed) "upgrading" once (if) you can actually open it in excel

I tried saving as xlsx, but it wouldn't let me. Now I tried your suggestion and it did save almost all of the formatting and text entries as xls, however, the formulas are lost. While saving, the message I got was "Warning: The following components of this notebook cannot be saved to this file format - floating objects". Any ideas? ...At least I'm half way there Thx!!

hmmm ok last desperate attempt to save your formulas....

add a ' to the start of each formula in the 1st row to make it text, then, if/when you get it into excel, remove the ' to get the formula back.

let me know how you make out

Hmmm, didn't think of that! However, the prob is that the formula in QP has a different syntax than Excel, so by adding/removing a ' i keep the QP syntax in Excel, which doesn't work Also, I have a looooot of worksheets, so adding a ' in each field would take ages if it worked Do you know of any converter maybe?
