Hi Forum Members,
I am totally new to Excel Forum. Is there a very simple way for me to split a large file of over 400,000 rows simply into lots of uniquely named Excel files of only 1000 rows, ie. File names like :-
Excel File Rows 1 -100
Excel File Rows 101-200
Excel File Rows 201- 300
I've never used macros, and I am hopeful that there is perhaps a simple option or technique in Excel to do this.

Hi,
Welcome to the forum.
Press Alt+F11, then go to Insert, Module and paste in the following code into the module sheet:
I assume you want to header row on each sheet, make sure you have a header row in row 1.
Run the code... alternatively you can open the workbook, paste in your data into sheet 1 and press the split up button.

@ rusmith, I would question why you would want to have 400 different files, when excel 2007 is quite capable of handling 400 000 rows?

FDibbins, regarding your question pertaining to splitting data into multiple files, I think it was well understood by rusmith that 400,000 rows of data could be stored in one workbook because they had all that data in the workbook to start with. Perhaps the reason was that they required that data in a different workbook.
