Can't see my tabs anymore in excel

    Hello Everyone,

I have a problem with my tabs in Excel.
I can't see my tabs anymore while they are put to visible in the options.
If I minimalize my worksheet I can see the tabs, when I maximalize it my tabs are gone again.
    Can somebody help me?

    Thanks a Lot!

Re: Can't see my tabs anymore in excel

It is complicated to explain but I'll do my best.

    8-05-2013 11-43-30.png

Like you see in the picture above in my settings the 'show sheet tabs' is checked.
So I suppose it should let me see the tabs beneath the excel workbook.
But it doesn't. When I make my screen small by clicking on the double squares at the right above of the workbook my tabs are visible.
When I click on the square to make my workbook bigger again it doesn't show my tabs beneath of the workbook.

Is it clearer now ? I don't know how else I can explain.

Here you should see the difference between the big screen and the little screen.

Re: Can't see my tabs anymore in excel

I already took a closer look and from what I see is that it is about excel itself.
The bottom of the excel is behind the task bar.
How can I make sure that it fits in the window and not behind the task bar ?

    For the solution of martindwilson:
Those things didn't work. I already did those.
And it is the excel itself probably that show to big. Not a workbook or something, but the sequel is that if you create a workbook you can't see the tabs cause they're hidden behind the taskbar below.

That also doesn't work, it is already a problem from the beginning when I open excel :s

If you mean to square for maximize or minimize the screen ... it stays the same.
From the moment I saw what the effective problem was was that the first I tried.

"..... But that isn't a correct solution cause then I always lost my taskbar. ..."

There's nothing wrong with either Excel or Windows.

    1. When the Taskbar is set to Autohide, it's ALWAYS available at the bottom of the screen as a thin line; you simply move the mouse to that line (the very bottom of the screen) and the taskbar pops up.

    2. You seem to have the taskbar set to "always on top". Right click the the taskbar and verify. If you have deselected autohide but selected "always on top" then you get the situation you currently have.

    3. You can also right click the taskbar and select tile or cascade windows. If Excel is the only application running, it will resize to fit above the taskbar.

Re: Can't see my tabs anymore in excel

I was having this problem in Excel 2013 so I thought I would share my findings with you all in case it helps with previous versions. Go to "File" (which in previous versions of Excel is the funny looking "Office" button) --> and then go to "Options". On the pop-up window, on the left hand side select "Advanced". Scroll way down to the heading "Display options for this workbook". Under that heading there are check boxes for "Show horizontal scroll bar", "Show vertical scroll bar" and....wait for it..."Show sheet tabs". Make sure that last box is checked and your tabs should be there.

Hope this helps someone else out there who can't see their sheet tabs!

Just fixed this myself (it strangely happened out of nowhere and it was killing me!).

Right-click on your windows taskbar and click the "Lock the Taskbar" button (doesn't matter what it was previously), then reboot.
It should work after that, if not, repeat the steps....it should work after that.
(somehow your computer decided to undo it's normal setup of showing windows, excel, word etc. "on top" of your windows taskbar and is now showing the full window that ends "behind" the taskbar) rebooting after locking should REMIND the computer how it should display windows.

I know you posted this a couple of years ago, but your response just helped me immensely, bengali. ARRANGE is under WINDOW instead of VIEW in Excel 2011, but clicking TILED worked like a charm. I just spent a couple of hours trying to figure this out and find help online, but your post is the only one that actually gave me something that worked! Thanks again!

It is the interior that needs to be maxed. There are two sets minimize - maximize - close buttons
Look at the row next to the information button (Blue circle with question mark) click the double box. You will be able to see the tabs. Alternatively click View - Arrange All - Cascade.

    That's my best guess
