    excel automated calendar

simply I need to take data that I have and have it auto up date a calendar in order to schedule the appointments. I have attached a small example, Id like the calendar to say the patients name that is due, and if possible when they click the patients name in the calendar for it to go back and show the excel row/column that has that patient in it. I have never done anything like this so any help would be great. http://www.excelforum.com/excel-gene...-purposes.html (this forum is basically what I want but don't know how to convert it over.) The column I need to show on the calendar is the future replacement.

See attached file. In the Calendar sheet use the drop-downs in cells K3 and K4 to select the month and year.

    Hope this helps.

The year selection is a data validation list. Click on the cell, then click on Data | Data Validation and in the dialogue box you will see the years listed, separated by commas - just continue adding new years and then click OK when you have enough.

    Hope this helps.

    Re: excel automated calendar

hey a few more questions and hopefully this can be done. I am posting the original file, the one that I am actually using. I have changed the names to numbers, but the problem Im running into is that your calendar only goes to 7 things, and I have a lot more then 7. I was wondering if we could make a list that way it only takes up one cell, or any other way you can think of. Also if you could just link a calendar to oxygen tab and pap tab that would help. I couldn't figure out how to replicate what you did. Thanks major props to you and Ill keep adding rep. Thanks again Any questions let me know thanks.

How many entries are you likely to have on any one day?

    Re: excel automated calendar

I've amended the file (attached). If this is your actual file, you have no more than 10 people on any one day, which occurs in April 2014, so I have set it up to give you 10 entries per day rather than a list to accommodate up to 25. In order to achieve more than 10 entries, however, I have added a Range drop-down in cell M3 of the calendar sheet, where you can select 1-10, 11-20, 21-30 etc. up to 41-50, so this should cope with future expansion. You might like to change the numbers back to names (I haven't changed anything in your pap sheet, so you should be able to just copy the data back in from your master file).

    Hope this helps.

    Re: excel automated calendar

In the oxygen sheet, insert a new column A and put this formula in A2:

    =IF(H2="","-",H2&"_"&COUNTIF(H$2:H2,H2))

I've assumed that it is the dates in column H that you would wish to report on. Copy that down to beyond the bottom of your data, so you can cope with future expansion of the data (e.g. to row 1000).

Then make a copy of the Calendar sheet - an easy way is to CTRL-drag the sheet tab, then rename this to Calendar_O2, for example. Then highlight columns B to H in the Calendar_O2 sheet and do CTRL_H (Find & Replace):

    Find what: pap
    Replace with: oxygen
    Click Replace All

then the Calendar_O2 sheet will be looking at the dates and names in the oxygen sheet.

    Hope this helps.
