problems with copying and special pasting

    i am using excel 2002.

    (problem #1)
I copy a small area with 3 columns and 15 rows and then paste it into a new blank worksheet.

but then when i try to insert new columns or rows into the pasted area - the shaded area indicating the area where i want the insert shows up in the area beyond the pasted area, but not in the pasted area and will not insert.

    (problem #2)
Some cells have invisible links attached to them.
when i copy the area i see moving dashed lines which encompass areas of varying size - sometimes one row, sometimes multiple rows.
Then if I past the area into a blank area, using 'special pasting' with 'values' chosen - the pasted copy is all mixed up, having no relationship to the original copied area. how can i eliminate the unwanted invisible links?

At Excelforum, you can say "Thank you!" by clicking the icon below the post.

Avoid pie charts with more than two data points. Why? See here (pdf, 559 kb). The only acceptable pie chart is here.

Re: problems with copying and special pasting

    Select the range

CTRL+C (press together twice) Double Copy - Windows ClipBoard not Office ClipBoard
    Select other WOrkSheet
Select Destination cell...... A1 or whatever
Press CRTL+V (Press together) -- standard paste

    If that fales....

    Copy as above
File / Past Special / As Values
** when you get better use right click method etc
