    Red face Saving_calculation

    Hi,

Need your help around the following:

I am trying to calculate the saving achieved by reducing the no of sites across different states through the whole year. Month on month reduction plan is attached.

Just to brief you on the problem:

In Mar end, we have 806 sites. Intent is to reduce it to 400 sites by Mar 11. There by reducing about 406 sites.

Month-on-Month Plan for reduction of sites is attached. What I need is to calculate the saving achieved by reduction of 406 sites in a year.

Things to consider is that if we reduce 109 sites in Apr'10, we would have the saving on these sites for rest of 11 months. Similarly on 88 sites in May'10, we would have
saving for rest of 10 months.

I am unable to arrive at any logic/formulae to calculate the saving accuring for the whole year for different states.

I don't have a resulted template and hence could not provide you with the desired output...

If you could help me built this template on saving, it would be really helpful.

    Looking forward to your response...

    Re: Saving_calculation

    Hi,

looking at your file, there are several things I notice before I want to apply a formula:

    1. the values in D3 to O 13 have a lot of decimals that have been formatted away. Do you want to include the decimals in the calculation, or not?

    2. In the lower table, would you like to accrue the savings of the previous months with the current months' savings or just show the savings for each individual month compared to the starting month?

If accrual is your goal, then I think a formula like this would work: put this in cell D19, then copy across and down.

    =(($C3-D3)*$B3)+N(C19)

Does that do what you want?

    cheers
