    Need help with excel formula for conditional formatting

    Hi,
    I need help with Conditional formatting for highlighting cells. I am putting dates in one column and the second column will have a date of 30 days from the corresponding cell of the first column e.g. sum(A2+30). Now I also want to do conditional formatting whereas Excel will change the color of the cell in the second column and highlight 10 days before the date in the second column is reached and it remains highlighted after that.
    e.g.
    if I enter a date of 01/02/12 in the first column the date in the corresponding cell of the second column becomes 02/01/12. Now my concern is to have the second column cell highlighted when the current date reaches 01/21/12, that is, 10 days before the reach of 02/01/12.

    Thanks much.

    Select all the cells in column B, starting with B2. Then click on Conditional Formatting | New Rule and then click on "Use a formula ... ", then put this formula in the box:

    =B2<=TODAY()+10

    Then click the Format button and choose the Fill tab and select Red as the background colour, then OK your way out. Excel will automatically adjust the cell references to the other cells in your selected range.

    Hope this helps.

    Pete

    Create a cell with the day's date in it =TODAY() C1 in the attached s/sheet

    Conditinal formatting (Cell B2) should then reference that cell.
    I have attached s/sheet sample

    I have tested it by putting in various dates in A4 and it seems to work

    Hi

    Denis, yes it's works, but i think it's better to do this, without the helper cell(c1). You don't need this.

    Conditional Formatting, formula can be>>=TODAY()+10

    Hope to helps you...

    For what it is worth, I much prefer Denis approach as it is far easier to adapt later on if necessary, as well as making it obvious what the date criterion is.
    Good luck.
