I have a need to periodically change certain formula characters in a few columns but not in all columns. When I have highlighted only a few columns that I want affected and use the find/replace function, it changes the selected letter combinations throughout the spread sheet. In other words if I want to change CA43 to CB43 in a limited number of columns (and highlight them) and use the find/replace function it replaces all CA combos, even those not highlighted. So, if in the title column (not highlighted), if I had CARTONS, It would be replaced with CBRTONS. Is there a way of selecting only the columns needing to be searched? Thanks,
Bob C
Find/Replace only works on the cells selected for me as per here

Are you clicking "Replace All" or just "Replace"?

I rarely return to a problem once I've answered it so make sure you clearly define what the trouble is.
When I use the replace command, it replaces 1 at a time. Not very helpful.
When I use teh "repalce all" command, it replaces all of the "finds" even those that are not in the highlighted area.

In reviewing the forum comments for Excel 2003 that you had alluded to, it seems they were having the same problem. But still no solution, just the comment "very frustrating" and I would say ditto to that.
