I am running EXCEL 2011 for MAC. I used Preferences to change the default save to .xlsm to use macros. I did a "save as" on my Personal Macro Workbook to save it as "Personal Macro Workbook.xlsm". I then deleted my original Personal Macro Workbook. So Far so good. The macros work and the new files are all .xlsm. I can manually edit the macros and they seem to work.
However, If I use the recorder to create a new macro, it creates a new Personal Macro Workbook instead of writing it to the Personal Macro Workbook.xlsm workbook.
What to do?
Your macro workbook needs to be called Personal.xlsm to be recognised as the Personal macro workbook by excel.
