    Simple Filter question..I hope..

    Hello All!

First time poster and newly learning the power of Excel!
I am creating a database of machine tools. I need to know how to go about filter/search my table..
I have a column for what size hole a tool(drill) makes, and this is a primary criteria somebody might search or filter for.

Here is the issue i have some drills that can drill a range of different sized holes, so in the cell i have "0.7287 - 0.7677" now if somebody needed to search all the drills that can make a hole "0.750" how can i filter or search for this?

Im not totally sure how to word this so i hope you can follow..

it will always be difficult to match a value within a range of values expressed as a text string.

You would be better having separate cells for the smallest hole and the largest hole sizes and then filtering against them both.

That is what i was thinking i would have to do.
Now how do I set that up? a <= type filter?
and for the drills that are only one size do i need to put that value in both of the cells? i.e. "min size" and "max size"

Yes, and yes, I would guess.
