Working with data from different xl files

Hi,

Can anyone let a novice know whether it is possible to import data from a number of different files from within a folder.
Each file shows different data set up in the same way, each file represents a monthly time sheets. I need to break down time spent for individual projects so the corresponding data from each time sheet should be concatenated into a list automatically so i can work with the complete data.
Or alternatively there may be a macro that would extract the data from each file and impart into a new file?

If i am way off the mark or no-one knows what i need i would not be surprised, but any ideas?
