    Sorting

I have a spreadsheet containing a year's worth of shipping info, including the shipment date.

What I would like to do is, for a given customer, get all shipments that were shipped within 5 days of each other.

So if ABC Vendor had a shipment 1/1/10, 1/2/10, 2/1/10, 2/19/10, 3/1/10, 3/4/10 and 3/5/10 I'd like to see only the shipments on 1/1, 1/2, 3/1, 3/4 and 3/5. It's a big file so going through it manually is out of the question. Any ideas?

    Re: Sorting

You refer to a sort but by the sounds of it you mean "filter" or perhaps even generate a Pivot Table.

In terms of actual "sort" - how is the data stored ?
Are all transactions listed by customer & date or are the transactions stored in a haphazard manner ?

The simplest solution might be to create a column of calculations at source that establish min. days passed since both "prior" & "next" shipment for the same customer (where avail.)

You can then filter your data by Customer and by your new calculation column - set to <=5

It would perhaps be an idea to post a sample of your data - obviously dummy values that are confidential but ensure that your sample is an accurate reflection of what you're working with.
