Please might I have help with a formula for the following:
Col A contains 25
Col B contains 28
Col C contains 15
I need to add 25 to 28 and from the total minus 15 as a percent, i.e. AplusBminus15%
I'm sure it's elementary but I'm grateful if anyone can help
Many thanks
Try
=(A1+B1)*(1-C1/100)
Fabulous!
Thank you - what does that "1-" do. I recall it now from years ago and never then understood why it works! That can be considered a rhetoric question if the explanation is tedious.
Many thanks again
If you are subtracting 15% from the total this is the same as multiplying the total by 85%.....1-C1/100 gives you 85% where C1= 15
Ah ha! Yes. Thanks, thanks!
I need to make one column a percentage of a column next to it without typing the formula in every cell. Example. I need each cell in column d to be 90% displayed in column c.
