Hi folks hope were all good.
This would probably be easy for the clever ones but, my sheet is simple and has a start figure and an end total with figures inbetween which draw down from the start figure. Easy.
From this I have a difference column and If I have a row which is minus and another which is greater than the start figure.
What I want is another total which only adds the negatives up in the difference column up but does not include anything that is over the start figures.
Any help would be great. Have a nice day everyone.

Wilf, welcome to the board.
First off however, please revise your thread title to something more related to the actual problem at hand... "conditional summation problem" perhaps ?
Secondly, it may be easier if you post a sample file - as is I myself am finding it quite hard to visualise your actual setup - formulae in use.
Thirdly, on a hunch, perhaps check out the SUMIF function in XL Help.
Thanks

Hey, Thank you for the reply and the help.
I have attached the file and hope am sure it is easy enough.
The problem is that I have defined by colour the differences between start and end sums but I am asking for only those who are in a minus figure to be totalled and am not sure how to dismiss those rows that are of a higher value or equal to that in the first column?
Hope this explains my problem of.
Thanks again for your time chum.
Alll the best
Wilf

Still not quite sure where you want your calcs but to sum the values < 0 in Diff column:
=SUMIF($H$5:$H$13,"<0")
