Hello,
I have just moved from Excel 97 to Excel 2010. In Excel 97 I could use the Template Wizard to link with data tracking. I have an active arrangement in 97 for entering the golf scores and associated handicap calculation of my Fiddle (group of friends) There are 37 of us playing 3 times a week. I have tried to import this spread sheet into Excel 2010. It displays all the information and performs the correct calculations. However when I try to save using a new save as new record nothing happens. A notice is displayed (cannot find Wizard) therefore I cannot use the data tracking as in Excel 97. I obviously don't want to lose 2 years of data on Excel 97. I would be grateful if someone could point me in the correct direction.
Best Regards

The Data Template Wizard disappeared several versions ago
Hope that helps.

Many thanks for your information. I think I will have to stay with Excel 97 for this particular spreadsheet. At least until I can find a way of doing something similar in Excel 2010. My son has just bought me the 2010 version and it looks good. However at 71 I am getting a little slower on the uptake.
Excel 2010 is much better. Persevere with the Ribbon and it will become clearer.
You can have both versions installed on the one PC.
Maybe if you attach your workbook we can make a 2010 version
Hope that helps.

You could probably link the two sheets by using VLOOKUP formulas.
Hope that helps.

Sounds interesting but I have never used VLookup.
Did you receive the 2 attachments?
Did you note that all the columns that I have formulae in are hidden for convenience only?
I thought about using a Form entry in 2010 but I am not sure how it would deal with my
formulas etc

I had a quick look.
Is the database fixed , but just updates when handicap is changed etc?
Not sure which cells the database wizard was using
Hope that helps.

I found a copy of the addin, but unfortunately the code can't be accesses.
Search your computer for Wztemplt.xla, if you find it you might be able to move it into the folder for Excel 2003. Post back if you can find it
Hope that helps.

Hello again,
I have searched for the file wztemplt.xls high and low including all system, folders as well as hidden files and folders without success. I do appreciate the help you have given me but it looks as though I will have to persist with Excel 97 until this season ends. Then I will try and get to grips with Excel 2010.
How I operated the spread sheet was I did a separate one for each year 2009 and 2010. Therefore I had a database for each game played in 2009 and 2010 still running.
I entered each card details on the input worksheet which automatically put down the Stableford score per hole per nine holes and per 18 holes. I then saved as in Excel 97 it would come up with 3 options.
1 update existing record; 2 Create new record (saving on this option transferred the record to the database); 3 Continue without updating the database.
These 3 options are the ones that are missing when I try to run on Excel 2010.
Once again many thanks for your efforts on my behalf.
Best regards

When you are ready post back & we'll have a go in 2010
Hope that helps.

i hope you dont mind me tagging onto this - i'm having the same problem as i used to have the same addin (very useful)
i need to create a simple form that populates another sheet - i used to be able to do it with the data tracking addin
is there a way i can do this simply in 2007 or 2010? without resorting to writing code?
