Thread: Need help changing date to a sortable date format

You should have posted your Excel file rather than a screenshot, it doesn't tell us much.
That column, is it text or numbers?
If only you'd posted that as an Excel file I wouldnt need to ask that question.

Try this.
Assuming it's text use Data/Text to Columns with a delimiter of space and comma.
You should now have three columns
Month, Date, Year

Now you can filter on those three columns

select column,select data tab ,select text to columns click next click next again select mdy from the options click finish that will change them all to real dates

Right click that column and format the cells as "MMM-YY" and now apply the filter and select data by month - year wise.

how will that work,?those are text dates otherwise it would have filtered correctly any way

I think you are right.
Not sure where I had seen dates in mm/dd/yyyy or dd/mm/yyyy format and thought to share the idea of changing their format to be mmm-yy as user wants to filter basis month and year. Anyways, thanks for the catch.
