=IF formula using Conditional Formatting
I need help on how to do the following:
In Cell C4 i have the following text: HBO
now from C7:AI44 I have lots of name text channels.
what I want to do is.
=If(C4=¨HBO¨, on that range mentioned above i would like to fill in with colors the name text channels
that corresponds to HBO.
is this Possible?
Than you in advance.
Select C7:AI44 and go to Home|Conditional Formatting|New Rule
Select Format Only Cells that Contain from Rule types...
Select Cell Value >> Equal to from drop downs and enter =$C$4 in last field
Click Format and choose colour from Fill tab.

the lists of text channels i have are different from the cell at C4.
for example; when you buy the entire package of HBO it comes with Sony channel, Warner Channel,
History Channel, Biography, E! entertainment, AXN, A&E, all these channels corresponds to the HBO
package, i want it to say something like, If C4 which is HBO, =IF(C4=¨HBO¨ then i would it for
all the channels mentioned above to fill in with colors.
Ok, so in a separate sheet make lists of all the packages. Select each package one at a time and enter a package name in the NameBox (found just to the left of the Formula Bar). Enter the name that you would enter in C4... but do not use spaces or other symbols (for e.g. HBO or DiscoveryChannel)
Then in C4 you can enter the name with or without spaces.
and reselect the cells to highlight and change rule to Use a formula to determine which cells to format and apply formula:
=MATCH(C7,INDIRECT(SUBSTITUTE($C$4," ","")),0)
click Format and choose colour.
