    Unmanageable file size

    Hi

In one of my Excel Sheet I have only one sheet and it has a large amount of data (only text and digits) from Column A1 to column G730000.
But the file size has gone up to 65MB and taking a hell lot of time to open or save. Most of the time it is not opening at all. I have dual processor and 4GB Ram but still it is becoming almost impossible to work. Any method to reduce the file size and how should I go about it.

Thanks a lot for your help.

    Pal

The two things that I've found that do this are "formatting of cells/columns/rows" out of control, or hidden "objects" on your sheet that have been copied 1000s of times accidentally.

Does this sheet have objects on them or ever did at one point and they were deleted? Maybe some small ones are still there.

    1) Turn on the DRAWING toolbar, then Click the SELECT OBJECTS icon
(Home tab, far right, click Find & Select, and the Select Objects button is near the bottom.)
    2) Draw a selection box on your worksheet to encompass A1:Z100000
(you may not be able to see if anything was selected with a selection that large)
    3) Press DELETE to delete anything selected.

    Does that solve it?

    If not, then do this:
    1) Select all the rows below your data set
    2) Select Edit > Clear > ALL

    3) Select all the columns to the right of your data set
    4) Select Edit > Clear > ALL

    Re: Unmanageable file size

    HI JBeaucaire and Martin,
Thank you both for your support.
In fact I checked the sheet but there is no object in the sheet or data in the unused cells. I have attached a sample sheet for example.
Here I have data in Cell D1: K2001 (some cells are left vacant from row 1519 till 2001 for future inclusions). Till this part there is no problem as the size is only 102kb and I have only one table, where the rates are given for only 1st Jan. but the problem is when I want to create similar data ranges for 365 times based on the dates in column G, the size becomes unmanageable.

May be I am not following the proper way to create such large tables or maybe excel cannot handle such huge data. I am not sure.
But I want to create a data structure for a large number of hotels where I should be able to find the rates of a specific hotel, specific room for a particular date in a year.

Any help on this would be a great help!!
    Thanks
