    Names

    Hi guys

I am a fairly basic user of excel and i am looking for some help.

I have a list of names approx 450. They are in the format : Surname, Christian in one cell.

I have managed to break them up and put them in a cell each and then place them back in a cell in the correct order and minus the comma by delimiting them and using the concatenate command or ="cell"&"cell" command.

My question is this, i know want to a user to type there name in a cell underneath the new list but as they are typing i want suggestions to appear as it would if the names had just been typed in? (does this make sense?)

    Can anyone help me??

    cheers

    Jason

    Re: Names

Hi there...are you saying they'll be typing in their full name again or will they be typing first names into one column and last name into another column? Thanks!

    Re: Names

Yes their full name. Mmmm say for example when you are entering list of names in a column:-

    Jason Smith
    Jason Brown
    Jason White
    Jason Green

If you typed the next name, Jason W, excel would assume it was going to be Jason White. This is what i want, but the list of names is actually referenced from the other cells so it wont work for me!

I think that is as clear as Mud!!! lol!

    Re: Names

Signed in on my company PC now, that works, BUT, i want to do it the other way. So i have two columns with the split names and then they will be typing there whole name in the cell with their full name.

I will have a look in help to see how your function works?!?

    Re: Names

I have attached a file, If a user types thier name in cell B,626 i would like it to try and match it to one of the names above, so that they user does not have to type their whole name. Any ideas?
