Retrieving data from Bloomberg Terminal

Dear all,

Rather new to Excel and completely new to this forum.

I've been tasked to build two macros that would extract data from the Bloomberg terminal:
1. extracts monthly forward prices of some commodities onto a sheet. These forward prices will be refreshed upon clicking of the macro.

2. Upon clicking, extracts and documents current daily prices of some commodities onto a sheet

It'll be great if someone can enlighten me on:
1. How do I even link Bloomberg Terminal's data into an excel sheet?
2. For task 1: How to automate the refreshing?
3. How do I auto-populate the information on task 2?

Try using the 'import data from web' tool on the data toolbar. I assume you're using a web-based Bloomberg terminal?

If you're not then maybe try import from other sources and use the wizard.

I never use Bloomberg but it would surprise me greatly if there wasn't an export functionality built into that, that may well be simpler than importing from Excel.

For ease, you can record a macro of yourself performing either of these options to allow repetition. Although recording a macro isn't very clean and you end up with much wasted code, it wil give you a solid starting point from which you can modify to your own specific needs.
