Hello, could someone please help me. I need to make a border around a cell flash or add something like a tracer around the cell. I need this cell in the workbook to catch a person's eye...
Suggestions? Help?

any help would be greatly appreciated!
Your post does not comply with Rule 1 of our Forum RULES. Your post title should accurately and concisely describe your problem, not your anticipated solution. Use terms appropriate to a Google search. Poor thread titles, like Please Help, Urgent, Need Help, Formula Problem, Code Problem, and Need Advice will be addressed according to the OP's experience in the forum: If you have less than 10 posts, expect (and respond to) a request to change your thread title. If you have 10 or more posts, expect your post to be locked, so you can start a new thread with an appropriate title.
To change a Title on your post, click EDIT then Go Advanced and change your title, if 2 days have passed ask a moderator to do it for you.
Hope that helps.

okay, thank you, sorry for not following the rules
any suggestions?
This should work with whatever cell is active.

Thanks, but this is not really what I had in mind. The code you provided me with puts a border around whatever cell is clicked. I need a border to flash around one particular cell-not every cell clicked. In other words I need a dynamic eye catching border around say cell B2 . When I say tracer I was thinking of like a light pulse constantly running around the cell B2. How can this be done?
Thanks again.
You are right, I was trying to make this general for you. Your code would have to provide the particulars about which cell is activated. Once that is done, the code I provided for you will work. As far as making the border flicker around the cell, I don't have a clue. It seems that you want the cell to have an animated border and that is beyond my scope of knowledge. Of course, you can add code to copy the cell, which will give it an animated look but that's all I can offer. The code you provided me with puts a border around whatever cell is clicked

Okay, thank you for the reply and help!
Don't give up on this forum though, I'm sure someone will be able to assist you. I may be wrong but there should be some kind of code that can give you the same type of cell animation that the copy function does.
How about this to display marching ants around the cell.

Hey, I think that may work with some tweeking. What I have done is merged cell B2 with cell C2, is there anyway to extend the 'ants' to the merged cell? Currently, the ants are only around B2, and so half of the merged cell has the ants.
Thank you.
You can try this for B2 and C2 being merged:
Hope this helps. You can adjust the cells if more or less are merged. Please Login or Register to view this content.

best not to use MergedCells any way
If you are simply trying to catch someone's attention when viewing then it might be something as simple as changing the the background color of the cell. If data is changed in the cell the background color could be removed or changed to a different color showing the change was done. Another alternative would be to name the cell "LookAtCell". Any person looking at the spreadsheet would simply go to the drop down menu for named cells and go to where you want them to look.

Thank you for the suggestion Danny. The cell background is currently a different color, however, when testing most users are still having a difficult time finding it. This is why I need to add something else. I have tried adding the code:
This is significantly better, but is there a way to slow it down and change the border color? Please Login or Register to view this content.
Thank you for everyone's help!
I would suggest that if you need flashing cells in order for your users to work out what to do, then you probably need to rethink your workbook layout.
(I'm afraid I hate anything flashing in a workbook so I won't address that part on principle.)

If you do want color try this:

makes a blue border and 6 makes a yellow border.ColorIndx = 5
Yes but it depends on what you want. A slower cycle i.e less changes/time unit or should the macro run last longer?but is there a way to slow it down
