Having a problem stepping through VBA and setting breakpoints at same time

    Hello all,

    FYI: I'm running Excel2010

I'm having an issue stepping through my code. What happens is, when my script stops at the point of debugging, I can't drag the yellow step arrow without setting a breakpoint at the same time. In other words, every single time I click on the step arrow, a breakpoint either sets or clears and I can't continue dragging the arrow. This *just* started happening this morning, and I've never had this issue before. I'm wondering if I activated a specific mode or etc.

Has anyone ever had this problem? And if so, have you resolved it? I'm hoping this is a simple "oops-I-clicked-something" fix.

More FYI: I restarted my PC, changed my mouse sensitivity around, and made sure I wasn't double-clicking, and took care of the basic "restart-everything-and-try-again" troubleshooting.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Cheers,
    -J

Hover over the yellow arrow, press left shift and then drag. If you click in the bar, you will toggle the break point. At least, that's the way it works for me.

Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately, it didn't work for me. This simply highlights lines of code and doesn't move the arrow.

That sounds as though you are in the coding pane, not over the yellow arrow itself.

It's acting as though I am in the coding pane, yes. The cursor is definitely over the arrow, though.

Perhaps the excel gremlins are mad at me

When you are hovering over the yellow arrow, is the mouse pointer a "normal" white arrow, or does it change to a thin lined double headed (up/down) arrow?

If it is a normal pointer, maybe your mouse is mis-aligned. Make sure the pointer changes shape/style before clicking and dragging.

Otherwise, I'm all out of guesses.

It's the cursor in the shape of the double-headed arrow. I'm all out of guesses, too. *le sigh*

in the vb editor select tools-options and on the first tab under window settings make sure 'drag and drop text editing' is checked
