Hi,
I've found plenty of resources explaining how to convert numeric values into English words (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/213360 for example) but nothing for the other way around.
Ideally I'd like to convert Bill into 1, Ben into 2, Weed into 3 etc.
Any help would be greatly appreciated
Tom
Greetings
Do you have a list of words or do you want a number generated for an unlimited selection of words?
Chard
A list of ten words:
1
2a
2b
2c
3a
3b
3c
4a
4b
4c
Cheers
Apologies for the bump, I thought you may be on to something?
Hi Tom
Sorry about the delay.
You could have a worksheet with a list of numbers and in the next column a list of corresponding words.
You could then use the VLOOKUP formula to return whichever word matches and inputted number.
Is that the type of thing you're after?
