    Unhappy MSN Stock Quote Add-In

Have been using the MSN Stock quote add-in quite successfully for long time to obtain stock information such as company name, exchange, shares outstanding, market capitalization, until now. Recently a number of my updates return #VALUE! in the field (sometimes 1 cell eg. exchange is updated but company name is not). Most of stocks are Canadian prefaced with CA: although do update for other countries as well such as US:, AU:. Many of the stocks are smaller companies with limited trading.I know the stock symbols are correct & quotes can be found on MSN Money Central website.

At times I recieve #VALUE! and if I play with the ticker (e.g. delete a letter and then change it back again) it sometimes works. Seems to be no rhyme nor reason

When inserting stock quotes I use Canada but have also used US.

Have uninstalled & reinstalled the add-in and it is checked. Under Autocorrect have smart tags operating.

    Using :
OS Name Microsoft Windows XP Professional
    Version 5.1.2600 Service Pack 2 Build 2600

    Application name Microsoft Excel
    Version 11.0
    Build 8146

Has there been changes to the MSN stock quote add-in or mircosoft updates which are interferring with the operation of this add-in?

Is there a limit to how many stock tickers can be updated?

What could I be doing wrong?

Looking to upgrading to Office 2007 - is there a similar add-in & can I continue to my exisiting spreadsheets & templates which use the MSN stock quote. (does the 2002/2003 add-in also work for 2007?)

This add-in is critical to what I do. Any assistance is very much appreciated.

    Thanks

Am having the same problem, have you checked this

    http://office.microsoft.com/en-au/ex...346101033.aspx

    specifically

    Check to be sure that:

You can connect to MSN MoneyCentral via the Internet.
The formula is entered correctly. See the MSNStockQuote function reference section on this page for more information.
The add-in is loaded properly, and that the MSNStockQuote.Functions check box is selected in the Add-ins dialog box (Tools menu). If MSNStockQuote.Functions is not listed, click Automation, and then click MSNStockQuote.Functions in the Automation servers available list.
If you're not sure the add-in is loaded properly, try uninstalling and reinstalling the add-in while you're connected to the Internet. See the section above titled Uninstall the add-in.

The add-in is not disabled. Click About Microsoft Excel on the Help menu, then click Disabled Items. If MSN MoneyCentral Stock Quotes Function Add-In is in the list, click it and click Enable.
Macros are not disabled. Macros may be disabled if:
When you installed the add-in, you cleared the Always trust macros from this source check box, and/or clicked Disable Macros in the Security Warning dialog box. To return to the Security Warning dialog box so you change these settings, quit Excel, start Excel, and attempt to insert a stock quote.
The Always trust macros from this source check box is disabled on the Security Warning dialog box. You can change the security setting on the Security Level tab of the Security dialog box (Tools, Macro menu) to medium. See Excel Help for more information.

    Good Luck

    Thumbs down Limit 200 Symbols

Think I have found out problem.

Believe Stock Quote Add-in is limited to only 200 stock symbols symbols.

What a bummer.... will have to develop a workaround.

Does anyone know how to use the Add-in for Excel 2004--Macintosh?
Would love any pointers. I dowloaded a file and it works--updates work etc., but can't figure out how to do it in a new file.

    Thanks!
