i am linking cells in different worksheets so that when i enter the date in one cell on one worksheet, that date shows up in a cell on a different worksheet (same workbook). the date i am linking is showing up in that other cell as a serial number rather than month/year. how can i solve this problem? thanks in advance.

You can use

Format > Cells > Number > Date

to specify the formatting of your choice, e.g. format the cell as dd/mm/yy or similar to see it displayed as a date
