Hi, I may be having a blonde moment but I'm really struggling and am desperate for some help.
I am trying to automate excel to generate a report into PDF by using a macro, but the previous posts I have looked at either recommend VBA code from excel guru or a PDF creator. The excel guru gives me probelms with the distiller ?!? and I cannot use PDF creator as it is forbidden by my company.
The programs I need to use are Adobe Acrobat 7.0 and Excel 2003.
I have seen some comments that explain that I must change something in the control panel for the distiller ?!?, but my company have restricted my use to just basic setting changes.
I have tried to record a macro but it keeps asking me for a name for the file to be saved as .... but I want it to save as text from a specific cell.
I have also tried deleting the problem lines from excel gurus example code and it just doesn't work.
If anyone can give me advice/examples I will be eternally grateful.
Thanks Helen
If they have your system that locked down, ask your tech support to help you set up the pdf printer.
Or...you could try this pdf creator.
http://sourceforge.net/projects/pdfcreator/
Or use the one that comes with FoxIt Reader.
Neither require messing with control panel...just work.
See if you can get the name of the acrobat printer from your list of printers in the control panel. Mine reads Adobe PDF.
Hope that helps.

Hi Roy,
Mine is also Adobe PDF, do you have anything that may help ?
Thanks
Helen
Can't help you with the "forbidden" use problem but for generating PDF reports from excel forms we prefer Win2PDF http://www.win2pdf.com/. We tried Creator but were unable to find a way of appending pages to build a multi-page report. We could only generate singe pages and we had to combine later which was far too time consuming. Once you download (there is a fully functional trial version as I recall) go to the help section under "Developer Information" - "Using the Printer Object".
