Multiple XLA files for an Excel Add-in

Please Register to Remove these Ads

Hi all,

this is my first post and I joined the forum in hopes of getting some help on something I've been researching for a while.
I've used the search button several times before creating my own thread but couldn't come up with anything.

I have an XLA that has several custom forms and UDFs defined. This is all great and works well except that we have 2 developers and we would both like to be able to make changes to the XLA and then do a merge.
This is not possible with one XLA (if it is, please let me know) so I was wondering if we could split the add-in into two XLAs (or more).

I think you'll need to let them work independently, and then do a manual merge. A compare utility like WinMerge will be convenient for code modules.

Hi, we've thought of doing manual merges but are reluctant to go that route because they are error prone and unreliable.
Comparison utilities see the XLA files as binary, so that's where our problem lies. =\

The exported modules are text files. AppsPro's CodeCleaner will export them en masse.
