hi, i need to make a chart, i have a piece of paper with numbers 2-234, corresponding to each number there is a value starting with 60 for 2 and going up to 46488 for 234, i am going to create a side chart in my worksheet with all these values typed in.
in my main chart i want to have 2 columns, one a user input, and the other a formula generated one.
if i type 87 into cell a1 i want cell b1 to return the corresponding value taken from the side-chart....
i know this is pretty simple, i just cant grasp what needs to be done.
any help would be appreciated

Create your table, then use a look up formula.
VLOOKUP is probably the easiest look up function to use, so my response is directed toward it.
When creating the "side-chart" (a matrix table) . . .
First column in the table is to contain the values you want to match (i.e. 87)
Second column is to contain the corresponding values.
Basic vlookup formula: VLOOKUP(A1,G2:H10,2,FALSE)
See the attached example.

Do you know . . . ?
