So i have Microsoft Excel 2003. I am doing an inventory sheet for my restaurant. I have all the data on several tabs but im having trouble linking cells in the different tabs. I've used the '=' to try and link them but it only copies it once. When i put in different info, the other tab won't change. I think i need some kind of formula so when i put my numbers in one cell, it automatically updates into the other cell in the other tab. Thanks![]()
Not sure what you did, but:
Click once in a cell that you want to link to another.
Type the equal sign (=) in the new cell.
Click on the original cell or type the original cell’s address.
Moving lines will surround the original cell and the newly linked cell will display the original cell’s address in the Formula bar.
Press the Enter key.
The data displayed in the original cell and linked cell will be identical.
Note 1: You can test the link by changing the value of the original cell..
Note 2: You can link cells in the same worksheet, the same workbook, and across different workbooks
OR
Use one of the various LOOKUP formulas;

Just some examples:
=[Book3]Sheet1!$B$3 (between WB)
=Sheet1!$B$3 (between WS)
=$B$3 (Same Sheet, different cell)
Looking for great solutions but hate waiting?

If you already have formulas as suggested (sounds like you might since you mention putting something in with = ), go to Options and make sure your calculation is set to automatic. If it's on manual, you'd have to hit F9 to get the sheet to updated.
