Thread: hlookup 2 values on 2 rows and sum column

Hi all,

I am looking for a formula which will do a hlookup on 2 rows and return the sum of the column

For example:

Apple Apple Apple Apple Orange Orange Orange Orange
Blue Red Yellow Pink Blue Red Yellow Pink
2 4 5 1 23 3 4 2
234 34 34 2 534 53 2 1
5 334 345 3 534 234 34 34
234 234 234 4 3543 345 345 345

the formula needs to be able to lookup across row 1 for "Apple", and Across row to for "Pink" and return the sum of the values under that column, so the result would be 10.

Any advice?

sorry table isnt as neat as I had hoped...

Under Apple and Pink the numbers are 1,2,3,4
