Hey guys,
im using excel 2003 abd have a bunch of data in CSV that i want to analise in excel. In simple terms i would really like to be able to set a time, then press a play button and have the data from certain cells displayed as the spreadsheet advances through the time (in case my description is poor rough data below):
1201:00 89 89
1201:01 69 69
1201:02 50 21
etc.
The time might not be consistent due to the data rate of the source sensor but should be around 100ms and always accurate in its csv value.
Im getting a bit stumped where to start with this really (hence no sample spreadsheet as yet), all help welcome;
thanks in advance
andy
Hi andy,
Welcome to the forum.
As per your description, I could make out that you need some bunch of data to be displayed in a sheet randomly from a csv sheet on a click on a play button and should change / proceed further as the time progress.. let me know if I am on the right track. Also would little more details on your point "The time might not be consistent due to the data rate of the source sensor but should be around 100ms and always accurate in its csv value". Thanks.

Yes sorry i probably didnt describe what i need very well. I have data in a format from a datalogger that is recorded about every 100ms. The data itself is mm of travel for 2 items. What i would like displayed when i click PLAY (or run the macro i am guessing) is that excel will start at a time i give it and then display graphically the mm readings of the 2 items. I would then be able to conditionally format (or similar) to make the results eye pleasing so i can work out at what times in the log travel is exceeding certain limits.
I am fairly familiar with excel but have no idea where to start with changing what data is displayed based on a running time. The data isnt real time so the time displayed in the source wouldnt relate at all to the system clock. I imagine a user input cell of "start time" would be the easiest way of cueing where to start sampling the data from?
EDIT: Thinking about it it would also be nice to have a scatter graph style read out of the values at the displayed time (ie after pressing play plot the value on a graph then every 100ms or so update that value on the graph (not sure if this is possible with excel or not though)

Hi geetyhawkes,
I can start when the data is fetched out of datalogger to an excel sheet and that is the point we can control eveything on excel only.
Would suggest you to upload a sample file with little description about the solution you are looking for. Thanks.
