i have several rows that have the same data, e.g code & name. one of the
columns is a number, which is different for each row. I want to merge all
the rows into 1 but i want the number field to be the total.
Can I do this?
stuart.
HU ??
Youve probaly already figured this out. If you merge your cells IE A1,A2,A3
you will only get the data from A1 remaining, the data in A2-A3 is gone,
lost. You can still calculate data in B.

One way - Select all your data and use Data / Subtotals - Hide the detail
and show just the summaries. Select all, do Edit / Go to / special /
visible cells only, then copy and paste into another sheet.

In the number field I want the total of all the numbers in
them fields, not the total of the rows.

Did you try it as I suggested because that is exactly what it gives you as
long as you chose the SUM option.
