How can I format a cell (specifically cell color) based on the value of the
cell?

OK, I found the conditional formatting... My question is now..
When was the function VLOOKUP added to excel? and when we the CONDITIONAL
FORMATTING added to excel? I am create a spread sheet for my wife's school
class, and although we have O2K3 at home, other teachers at her school have
various version from O97 throug OXP.

VLOOKUP has been around for many versions.
Conditional Formatting was introduced in Excel 97
