Hi there,
We have a contractor whose hours we are tracking. (he takes a lot of breaks but appears to be billing us for the time). I have seen multiple standard time sheets that give a time in, out for lunch, back in and then out, but his times are erratic and he is in and out all day. Unfotunately I haven't had much luck trying to modify the formulas in those templates. What I need would look something like this:
"Start time, time out, time in, time out, time in, cell phone call start, cell phone call end, etc." .
Is there a way to automatically give me the amount of hours he is using that are, or are not, work related? I have no preference as to which number I get. I just need to know one of them :-)
Your help, or pointing me in the right direction will be greatly appreciated. Thank you!!

Thank you for the link. I've tried the formula, copying it and pasting it and then changing the cell references, but it doesn't appear to be working. I've formatted my cells according to another thread I read. I feel like I must be missing some small crucial step since I copied the formula right into my worksheet.
Is there some small step i could be missing? for instance, he came in today at 10:45, and left for lunch at 12:22. I have both of those time cells formatted "general" and the the cell that contains the formula formatted as "h:mm". My formula result is 12:43. Incidentally, He's made three 10-20 minute phone calls since then and I need to add those too :-)
Again, your help is much appreciated. sorry if this is something simple I'm overlooking. It sure seems like it should be simple enough.

Rather than me trying to work out what you are trying to do, if you can provide a small zipped sample of your data together with a explanation of what you are trying to do, then I’m sure it will be easier for me to help you.
To post a zipped example, go to “My Documents” or wherever you have your file stored, right-click and “Send to > Compressed file”, then attach this to your post.
