Here is my problem, mind you I am fairly new to Excel. I have created a grading workbook and need to know the function on how to set the grading weights. I have 20%, 40%, and 40% I need to know the function to set the grading on each one individually. However, after that I need to import data to the grades page using that grade scale by referencing that onto the grades page. The homework, quizzes and exams are all on seperate worksheets and I also need a function to put into the grades worksheet which will calculate automatically the % of all homework for each student, etc. in the grading cell for that student. Thank you for any help in advanced, signed lost in space heh. PS the grading scale is a worksheet of its own and the grade page is a seperate worksheet as well, thanks.

Probably better to understand if you attach a sample zipped XL2003 workbook with sample data and some expected results.

Ok I have just put in the entire workbook and please remember that each file is depedent to the workbook or doc. file so put in a folder. Please review and I know I have the incorrect functions in the grading scale because I tried to use =average(20%) and the pecrntages formulas are wrong on the grading page though I have the basics of it. Thanks for all of your help, Oh this is XL2007 by the way.

Yes where you see 20%, 40%, and 40% I need to have thos weighted. As in say I were doing it this way B9*0.2+B10+B11 I need a formula that will go into 20 then 40 then 40 individually I think but you may know a better way to make 100%....also if you have seen the grades sheet where the percentages go all I did was put Homework!range:range/total I know that this is incorrect. So I need each percent to have a weight and then I need a formula to pull the grades off of the homework, quizzes and exams workpages and plug them into the grades pages in there respective order...I know how to reference the grade weights onto grades page and plug them into the column though by copying and selecting the range of the column and pasting? I am so lost please help, if you can..thank you

Still not sure about the "weighted" thing...what's wrong with 20, 40, 40?
Also, perhaps in the Grade sheet, you want Average? e.g. in B7: =AVERAGE(Homework!$B9:$O9)/100 copied down.

ok what I mean by grade weight is that 20% where it says 20% would have a formula that would return 20% of the grades for Homework and so on.
Component%
Homework 20% needs formula that will return 20%
Quizzes 40% needs same for 40%
Exams 40% same I used =AVERAGE(40%)<----wrong.
I did the same for all three and I need a formula that will return the percentages. after that I need to plug that formula into the grading sheet so my columns for homework, quizzes, and exams will return that %. I was explained to once by someone who knows excel well, but have since forgotten...I hope thise helps more

Can you resend the workbook with some actual sample results entered manually in the cells you want them to appear in (and add a comment or note that says how these results came to be).
I am sorry but I am not really following your explanations.
