    100000 mai ra 1971
    30000 kar he 1972
    36000 che pr 1973

    And
    sheet 2 has
    left name place
    1970 dn
    1971 ra
    1972 he
    .
I would like to compare based on the name (which is unique in both sheets) i need to get the place and fill in second sheet.
I get N/A when using vlookup.
    Any ideas?

It would probably help if you could attach a small sample of your data. If you are getting NA error, it usually means the names are misspelt.

There is no such thing as a problem, only a temporary lack of a solution

In formulas, you might need to replace ; with , depending on your XL version

    G'day Hare,

When using the vlookup all information must be on the right side of the information it's looking up. It read the information from left to right. See attach example.

For more information read through the excel help (Press F1) or post in this thread
