Thread: Counting values that rely on months

I am trying to figure out a formula that will count the amount of deliveries made to a customer for each month. Please see the attached Example.xls

This is just a small example of what I am trying to accomplish.

The answer to my problem is probably very simple, but I am a novice when it comes to Excel Functions and don't know many of the great number of commands that are actually out there.

The file is pretty self-explanatory, so if anyone can help me out, it would be greatly appreciated. THANK YOU!!

Try this formula in C6, copied down and across:

=SUMPRODUCT(('referred Cells'!$A$6:$A$18='Cells with formula'!$A6)*(TEXT('referred Cells'!$C$6:$C$18,"mmm")='Cells with formula'!C$4))

Note: You must be consistent with the titling of you column headers... use 3-letter month abbreviations... e.g. Jul, Aug, Sep...
