Hi all, i am not the greatest with excel and i am trying to create a leaderboard in excel from data i input.
Looks something like this:
Column A Column B Column C
A. Smith B. Jones C. Brown
D. Johns E.Bryan F. Ball
And so on.....the people in column a have been awarded 3 votes for there perfomance, the people in column b get 2 votes and the people in column c get 3 votes.
Obviously some people will score a number of times in different columns as well.
Does anyone know how to create a leaderboard from this information?
Cheers.

G'day Matt and welcome the forum,
I've attached a file and this is one way I know of meeting your requirements
I've used limited ranges on some formulas, you might need to expand and/or copy down some formulas and adjust the macro for the added information to work in this workbook.
On the 'Vote Sheet' there is a data validation boxes for correct entry of names.
The best thing is to play with the workbook and is if it meets your requirements.
Please post back or PM if you need more information.
Hope this helps

Thanks for your help ratcat, i really appreciate it.
The only problem is i wanted to do this for the afl which would require a very long list of players, also when i click update leaderboard it comes up with 'run time error 438'
I am also unsure of how to add new players to the drop-down list.
Are you able to help me? Sorry to be a pain!
G'day Matt,
The Brownlow medal. What achievement !!
As for the drop down list. Here a link to help you out.
http://www.contextures.com/xlDataVal01.html
If you go with the intial of first name with the drop down list, you may have to go with a dependant down list. List the players under Team then one big list.
Eg Brother's in the competition like the Davey brothers, there first name starts with A. Alwyn and Aaron
As for the macro returning a 'run time error 438'. I'm just learning that craft. I'm using Office 2007, maybe a compatibility problem. I'll have to take it to work and use it on excel 2003, and see what the problem is.
Check your PM box
Cheers
