    Multiple categories

    Dear reader,

Hopefully I can put it in words firmly:

Say I have column A: Countries and in Column B I want to specify the color of a particular flag.
Say I have made a list of all possible colours and connect them to column B. By doing so, I am able of selecting a color (which I have restricted by that list, sorry I don't know the English name for this function). In case I want to fill in the color of, lets say, Turkey, that won't give any troubles, since I can easily select the red color alone. However, in case I have the flag of France, I need to select 3 colors (Red, white and blue). Regretfully this is not possible, due to the restriction of selecting only one item.

In an analogue problem I want to be able of selecting multiple numbers (which corresponds to a specific category) and have them in the same column. By doing do, I can define the desired filter conditions and filter out the designated items (in case of Blue, White and red: Netherlands, France, Russia etc.).

    Can someone help with this?

    Cheers,

    Luders

    Hi everyone,

Is my question not clear, or is it something difficult to solve?

I guess it not clear why you need to put multiple pieces of information in a single cell.
Why not allow 3 or 4 cells for the colour selections and then in other cells combine them?

There is, if I recall correctly, an example on the forum of concatenating selections in a cell with data validation. The biggest problem is removing a choice once added to the concatenation.
    Cheers
