    Nested lookup function

My kid is college and taking a CS class that requires some Excel 2007 work. I have not used Excel in ages so I've pretty much forgotten how to write functions like this. I need to try and get up to speed in hurry to be of any help to her. Attached is the small spreadsheet. I'm trying to come up with the answer to problem #13 (Line 44 - Boxes L & J) Box K determines the functions that must be used to derive the answer. If someone would be so kind as to post what the correct answer and formula/equation would be, I could then reverse engineer it to help me better understand. Thank you in advance.

    Re: Nested lookup function

Assuming I've understood correctly and given the function restrictions:

    Code:
    =VLOOKUP(MIN(800,50+VLOOKUP(H44,H4:N9,5,0)),E13:F17,2)-VLOOKUP(VLOOKUP(H44,H4:N9,5,0),E13:F17,2)
